Everything you need to know

Four things get asked every time: how to activate it, how to move it to another machine, why the alert did not appear and how to bring old mail over. They are all here, in that order.

Activate the licence

The key arrives by email after the purchase, in the form INBX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. It is pasted once in Settings › Licence › Paste the key.

Activation needs internet once. From then on the certificate lives on the machine and is verified locally: you can read mail offline for weeks.

If the key does not go in, the last character is a check digit and the field tests it before spending an activation. A typo is caught before touching the server.

Move the licence to another computer

Pro covers two computers and Pro+ five. Changing machines needs no ticket.

On the old machine: Settings › Licence › Release this computer. It can also be done from the portal, with the link that arrives at the purchase address.

Then, on the new machine, paste the same key. The released seat is taken at once.

Alerts and silence

In Settings › Notifications you choose the style — envelope, mailbox, bun, strip or the system one —, the paper, the wax, the size, the duration and the sound.

“Stay quiet in full screen” uses the operating system query: with a game, a video or a presentation in full screen the alert does not appear. When you come back, one card sums up how many arrived.

The alert window never takes focus and never shows in the taskbar. If you use a screen reader, the system style is the one announced best: the app says so on the same screen.

Import mail

Settings › Accounts › Import accepts Outlook .pst and Thunderbird and Apple Mail .mbox and .eml.

The import runs on your machine: the file goes nowhere. Folders, dates, senders and attachments are kept.

A large .pst can take a while; progress is shown and it can be cancelled without leaving the mailbox half done.

Known issues

Windows may show SmartScreen with the first signed versions. “More info › Run anyway” is safe if the SHA-256 matches the one published on the download page.

On Linux, full-screen detection answers “cannot tell” and alerts are not silenced. That is a Wayland limitation, not a configuration mistake.

macOS does not expose Focus to other applications: with the system style the filtering is done by macOS itself; with the app's own styles, silence depends on full-screen detection.
